3. Kitchen Style Trends

One of the trendiest styles for kitchen updates that has emerged this season is the banquette style. It’s a style that has gained in popularity because it can accommodate a larger number of people in a kitchen considerably. It can provide room for many individuals; therefore making it suitable for a larger family. At the same time it can create an intimate space by keeping it cozy so that smaller families can enjoy the character of a banquette style as well. This style of kitchen also has the capacity for more storage space which is something that always comes in handy. 2. Kitchen Colour Trends

This year there is an unusual colour palette for kitchens that has gained popularity as being the 'hot' colours of the season. Black is the top choice for kitchens this season, as well as a wide range of shades of grey. There are a variety of grays to choose from including warm grays, dark grays and even grey/brown. Black can make a wonderful backdrop for colour contrasts and can also be a great accent colour. This particular duo will make a dramatic statement in any kitchen!

The Pre-apprenticeship Training Course for Women in the Finishing Trades is ready to start! After listening to our applicants and addressing their concerns and issues we are ready to go! So apply now and be ready to start a new career in 2009!

When: January – May, 2009
8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday & Sunday

Where: The Pre-Apprenticeship Training Institute
10 Kodiak Crescent, Unit 100
Toronto, Ontario M3J 3G6

Class size: 8-10 students (women)

Cost: $3500 + GST

Course profile:
This program focuses on the development of both practical and problem solving skills that will provide students with little or no previous experience in the construction and maintenance field with the necessary skills to seek employment in this industry.

We are looking for women who want to make the finishing trades their career. Upon successful completion of the course we at Wo-Built Inc will help you find employment within the finishing trades.

The program exposes you to various aspects of building systems, reviewing work orders, projects and maintenance problems. Students also study life safety systems, plumbing, electrical, and communication skills.

The course is a certificate course with an overall passing grade of 75%. The assessments are project based and graded. And!!! Best of all: A cool graduation party at the end of the course.

Graduates of the course will be able to perform day-to-day tasks such as maintaining building systems, receiving work orders and completion general construction tasks such as:

• Wood Framing
• Painting
• Taping/Dry walling
• Finish Carpentry
• Blue Print Reading
• T-bar installation
• Tiling ceramics
• Basic plumbing (installation of sinks etc)
• Basic electrical repairs
• Home Preventative Maintenance
• Building Code Requirements
• Health/safety knowledge
